About the Author

So, this site is really just a place for me, Sean Turriff to share all my curling thoughts with the rest of the world.  Who am I you might ask?  Well, I’m an NCCP Certified Competition Development curling coach living in Aurora Ontario.  I’ve been coaching for…hmm a few years now and simply love the game of curling.  I do as much work in the sport as I can and have roles in the Richmond Hill Curling Club, OCA (Ontario Curling Association) and have taught and coached in a few other places too.

I’m the author of the book Curling:Steps to Success published by the fabulous people at Human Kinetics.  Please, if you’re so inclined, I would really appreciate your support by picking up a copy at your local Chapters book store or here:

I’m hoping you’ll enjoy everything you find on my little site and if any of you have questions I would be happy to try to answer them!

Had a situation/debate today I’ll try to describe for your opinion. Last end, we’re up 3 without last rock. Our skips 1st shot. We’re sitting shot rock in the 4′ in front of the “T” at 12 o’clock with with 2 gauard stones at 10 o’clock & 2 o’clock (from skips position). Our rock is clearly open. They have a rock behind the “T” touching the 4′ just kitty corner to our shot rock – about 1/2 rock off dead centre. Of the 3 options I can think of – 1. guard (at 12 o’clock) 2. Sit on top of our shot rock. 3. Hit our rock to drive their rock out of play; what would you throw? Thanks for you comments/opinon.
